FS visit to Sri Lanka provides opportunity to review bilateral ties, projects and cooperation on Covid

Colombo, At the invitation of the Foreign Secretary of Sri Lanka Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla paid an official visit to Sri Lanka beginning October 2. He is on a four-day visit from October 2-5.

On October 3, Foreign Secretary visited the Oil Tank Farms at Trincomaleez. LIOC briefd him about the development undertaken at the Lower Tank Farms and the possibilities for further strengthening India-Sri Lanka energy partnership to enhance SL’s energy security.

Prior to this, he began his visit by seeking blessings at Sri Dalada Maligawa. He was received warmly by Diyawadana Nilame of the temple.

The visit of Foreign Secretary will provide an opportunity to review the two nations’ bilateral ties, progress of projects and ongoing cooperation to tackle Covid related disruptions.

Sri Lanka occupies a central place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. Foreign Secretary’s visit signifies the importance both countries attach to strengthening their close and cordial relations in all spheres of mutual interest.
