MoD, US sign contract worth ₹423 crore to procure arms for Indian Navy

New Delhi, Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with the US Government under Foreign Military Sale (FMS) for procurement of MK 54 Torpedo and Expendable (Chaff and Flares) for the Indian Navy at a cost of ₹423 crores.

The contract was signed on October 21. These weapons are the outfit of P-8I aircraft which is used for Long range Maritime Surveillance, Anti-Submarine Warfare and Anti-Surface Warfare (ASV). 

Manufactured by US defence major Boeing, Indian Navy so far has 11 P-8Is in its kitty, the last being delivered recently.
