On a goodwill visit, INS Tabar reaches Stockholm

Stockholm, After participating in the 325th Russian Navy Day at St. Petersburg in Russia, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tabar arrived at Stockholm, Sweden on July 29 for a three day goodwill visit.

During the stay in Stockholm the ship’s crew would participate in various bilateral professional interactions with the Swedish Navy and also undertake a Maritime Partnership Exercise at sea with the Swedish Navy on departure from Stockholm.

INS Tabar (F44) is the third of the Talwar-class frigate of the Indian Navy. The frigate was commissioned on April 19, 2004 in KaliningradRussia with Captain (later Vice AdmiralBiswajit Dasgupta.

INS Tabar reached her home-port of Mumbai on July 31, 2004. Along with her sister ships INS Talwar (“sword” in Sanskrit) and INS Trishul (“trident” in Sanskrit), INS Tabar is assigned to Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command, head-quartered in Mumbai.

INS Tabar is a well-equipped warship that has the ability to handle air/surface/sub-surface missions or defending herself operating either independently on maritime missions or supporting a larger naval task force.
